HISTORY

Faithful to the avant-garde spirit that has been ever present since its creation, Terraillon has been designing and making appliances that anticipate consumer expectations for more than sixty years. Its products include kitchen scales, bathroom scales, water filtration, baby care and products for your health and well-being.

An integral part of our everyday life, Terraillon products are appreciated for their modernity in every room of the house, from the kitchen to the bathroom. Always ready to serve, their unique features make those moments when we look after ourselves and those we love even more special.

Today, an international group

Exporting to more than 80 countries in all 5 continents, Terraillon is an European leader in bathroom and kitchen scales.

The Group’s international reputation is built on two well-known brands: Terraillon and Hanson.

The Terraillon headquarters in Paris, France, houses international teams who work in collaboration with some thirty researchers based in France and Asia. Production is divided between different countries in Europe and Asia. Each year, these international teams develop tens of new products at the forefront of technology, which are able to meet the diverse expectations of consumers around the world.

INNOVATIONS, DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

You can discover Terraillon evolution and its main innovations throughout the years!

1970: The BA 2000, the legendary kitchen scale, still in stores today, is exhibited at the New York Museum of Modern Art.


1997: The glass electronic scale becomes a decorative object for the bathroom. The TX 1000 is awarded a "Janus de l'Industrie" Prize by the Ministry of Industry.


2003: Launching of the Multithermo, the thermometer that reads body temperature from the forehead or the ear - as well as the room temperature.


2004: The BX 206, a wall-scale for your kitchen, ultra-modern design with a glass platform.


2004: The TFA 100, the body fat scale with infrared remote control which calculates your weight, body fat rate and body water rate, and how many calories you need every day.


2005: Book, launched in 2005 with its very innovative design is already the best-seller! The Book is awarded a "Janus de l'industrie". Prize by the ministry of Industry.


2006: Terraillon innovates once more this year by launching a new range of water filter jugs with Floral colours and a new counting system: Sensitive Technology.


Inspirational design...

Consumers are extremely sensitive to the aesthetics of objects that are part of their everyday life, so Terraillon is dedicated to designing products where function and form really make people want to use them. That is why our designers work in close collaboration with our Research & Development department.

Terraillon products have gained international recognition in design.

2005 assessment is very positive as many Terraillon products received awards for their attractive and innovative design:


Book : «Janus de l’industrie»
The «Janus de l’industrie» is the hallmark of French creativity and innovation. It is awarded in recognition of products designed in their every detail to offer a real functional benefit to the user.


Duo and Nuance: "IF Award"
The German design award «IF Award», received more than 2,000 product applications this year, coming from 37 different nations. The international jury from the Design Forum reward those with an outstanding design and built by companies committed to innovation and willing to face a strong competitive environment.


Duo, Nuance and BabyScale: "Good Design Award"
The «Good Design» programme founded in 1950 in Chicago by Edgar J. Kaufmann remains the world’s oldest and most important design competition. The jury rewards products that represent the best in design across a range of criteria: innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function, utility, appearance and aesthetic appeal.
